WHO IS MS. SELENA?

Ms. Selena Khan has been an educator for over 10 years. She brings a diverse teaching background, having taught all core subjects from 2nd through 10th grade. In recent years, Ms. Selena has focused primarily on teaching math and science to upper elementary, middle school, and high school students. Her dedication and expertise have led her students to achieve remarkable success in regional, state, and national science and engineering competitions.

Currently, Ms. Selena serves as the middle school and high school science teacher at a local Islamic school, where she teaches life science, physical science, high school biology, and high school chemistry. Her role extends beyond the classroom as she organizes and leads community STEAM programs and events for various organizations across Southern California.

Ms. Selena is deeply involved in her community, volunteering her time and expertise to various schools and organizations. She serves on the Executive Board of the LA County Science and Engineering Fair as the executive secretary and is a member of the Science Review Committee. In this capacity, she ensures all projects submitted to the fair comply with LACSEF guidelines, state and federal laws, and the California Education Code governing scientific research and experimentation. Additionally, she has served as a judge and advisor for several prestigious competitions, including NASA student contests, the LA County Science and Engineering Fair, and the California Science and Engineering Fair.

In 2019, Ms. Selena was honored as a finalist for the "California Science Teacher of the Year Award," a testament to her commitment to excellence in education. She is passionate about fostering a love for learning and exploration in her students, inspiring them to reach their full potential and explore the wonders of science and mathematics.
